It was probably a fungus. The new fish were probably infected and then infected your other fish. When you get new fish, make sure that they don’t have any spots on them that aren’t supposed to be there. If you have another tank, put new fish in it for a few days before you put them in with your other fish. There are some things you can buy to put in the water that will kill some types of fungus. Check at the pet store to see what’s available.

Your fish do have fungus, probably from the store where you got the new fish.

You need to treat your tank before starting new fish.

Easiest way to treat, throw away gravel, filter and aeration materials, use an antifungal on the tank, and start over.

Keep new fish in a seperate container for a few days, until you verify they are not contaminated.

Maracyn and maracyn two used together are the best. Next time you must quarantine new fish for three weeks.

Definately sounds like Ich or another fungal infection…Coppersafe is the best Ich remedy I have ever used…works every time along with aquarium salt but if you have hornwort plants in your tank it will kill them instantly so be sure to remove them first and do not replace them until you are sure all the medicine is out.

Yes you can either use antifungus tabs or melafix to treat your tank and heal your fish. treat it then give it about a week and theyll be fine
