While not an expert on the topic, I don’t think there would be a problem with your using fish tank water to water house plants.

Where would you store the water?

There would be all kinds of organic material in the fish water. I suspect your plants will love it. I used to drain the turtle water into the garden, and it seemed to like it (I used to have a red- eared slider)..

It should be quite good for them. Lots of nitrates in the water to feed the plants!

It’s not just okay, that is the PERFECT idea! I’d get a barrel and store it and also use it in the yard on the plants and the lawn. The water from fish tanks (especially a good balanced tank) is full of all kinds of ‘junk’ that usually falls to the floor, to be ‘vacuumed out’ during the ‘water change.’ You probably know this, but in case others are reading … the ‘used fish water’ is good for the plants because the ‘dirt’ has good vitamins and minerals the plants can absorb. Do NOT drink the water, even if the ‘garbage’ settles and the top seems perfectly clear. You could get a virus that is very uncomfortable, with nausea, vomiting, and extreme pain. And THANK YOU for ’sensible recycling.’

Use it, as long as it is not a salt water aquarium
