That should be fine…a little extra filtration is not usually a bad thing…just don’t get a filter so powerful that it turns your tank into a wave pool…

up to is just a guildline, you want to go up anyway.

On my saltwater, i have 3 filters on it, and it is a 20 high.

So you will be fine with one filter that is for more gallons.

Yes, but you should really judge it on the GPH (Gallons Per Hour). You want a filter that cycles your tank at least 5 times per hour. For your 26 gal tank, you’d want a filter with a minimum of 130 GPH. A filter rated for “up to a 50 gallon tank” should have a minimum of 250 GPH. Usually the GPH is stated directly on the box, but sometimes it isn’t. In that case, call Marineland and ask for the GPH on the size filter that you bought.

Yes that filteration should be fine. Its allways better to have a little bit more filteration.
