That should be fine...a little extra filtration is not usually a bad thing...just don't get a filter so powerful that it turns your tank into a wave pool... ;)

Patrick Lapierre

up to is just a guildline, you want to go up anyway.

on my 20 high, i have an aquaclear 70(for 50-70 gallons) and a penguin HOB that is for 30 gallons.

On my saltwater, i have 3 filters on it, and it is a 20 high.

So you will be fine with one filter that is for more gallons.

Claire Pink

Yes, but you should really judge it on the GPH (Gallons Per Hour). You want a filter that cycles your tank at least 5 times per hour. For your 26 gal tank, you'd want a filter with a minimum of 130 GPH. A filter rated for "up to a 50 gallon tank" should have a minimum of 250 GPH. Usually the GPH is stated directly on the box, but sometimes it isn't. In that case, call Marineland and ask for the GPH on the size filter that you bought.

Jason Lambert

UP TO 50 GALLON = 0 - 50 gallon -
26 is less than 50 but more than 0

Yup that includes 26.
