Hatchet fish floating on top of any tank are sooo cool. Perhaps dollar fish one strata below (they can become quite big) . Lots of glittering silver with ??? It would be nice to use the bottom, middle and top (and veryverytop) of your beautiful big tank to make a real showpiece. If you get piranahs, that’s all you can have. Do you want to make a piece of art or will your aquarium be more of a “fish cage’? Your choices are only limited by your own imagination.

Depends on what country. Piranhas are actually illegal in some places. Good one is Golden Arwana from Japan. Beautiful fish, believed to be a goodluck and expensive too when they get bigger.

Piranhas are a good idea but try getting a whole bunch of goldfish or white fin fish.

I know pirahnas are not legal to own in Washington state. However Pacus are a cousin of them. They are supposed to grow really large though…

if you want more color in your tank, try other varieties of cichlids like yellow prince; discus are nice too. if you’re into hybrids try getting a flowerhorn, they’re the rage here in asia and are supposed to bring good luck. but if you want the piranha “look’, pacus are an easier alternative.

If you had a red devil then your probably familiar with with Convicts. We have a breeding pair with a Jack Dempsey. Convicts are wonderful because they spawn like crazy. Seriously you just add water and Bam! babies. Like most Cichlids they are great parents and exhibit fascinating behavior. Your tank probably is filled with large rocks already, you might want to try sand though- they love it. Convicts are beautiful, especially their breeding colors and have tons of personality. They are also hardy and grow fast. You could start with 4 to ensure getting a breeding pair. If they are alone in a 50 gallon they will grow to about 3-4 inches in just a few months. Once thay start breeding you will probably have to get rid of the others (they are fierce parents. Ms. Dempsey is easily twice their size and stays out of their way during spawning.)

They truly are wonderful fish. Good Luck!!
