pull them off the walls and take a clean white unwahsed towel to them. I have towels just for my tank that gets washed in just hot water. works just fine.
I do the 10% water changes weekly and every other week I feel and rince off my bubble bar if it feels slimmy or looks dirty. usually a rinse in cold water is enough to clean it up, of course i use my fingers to wipe it off also
What i do is i soak my bubble sticks in hot water for about 10 minutes and scrub them and then they allways come out looking like new. But you should also replace them about every year.
