YES they are very difficult to take care of and maintain..but they are sooo pretty…have your tank set up by a professional..then you don’t have to go through all the hassle by your self

There is no real difference, just the water temperature.

Cleaning, water changes, feeding – no real difference between common tropicals and coldwater fish. In fact because most tropicals are smaller than the goldfish? that you have now, they produce less waste, so need less cleaning.

Another option is to get some White Cloud Minnows. They are small coldwater fish that could live fine in that tank.

As long as you’re prepared to change about 20% of the water every couple weeks or so, then it’s really not that difficult.

If you don’t have a filter already, purchase one. Also buy a heater (obviously).

Another great thing to use is a water siphon/gravel cleaner. Use that to clean up the fish waste every 2-3 weeks, and be sure not to overstock your tank!

They require a little more work but they are still really easy to take care of. When you switch over make sure you have a heater and that the water is up to the right temperature. Buy some hardy fish to start with such as tetras or mollies.

It’s actually easier. All you need is a heater. Most smaller tropical fish don’t give off as much ammonia as goldfish, so that means less water changes for you!
