No matter what size tank it is, you should still change 10-25% of the water every week (which in your case, is ALOT of water). No, adding a snail or 2 won’t help keep your tank cleaner, they actually create more waste which means slightly more cleaning. Here’s some links on cycling a tank:
You can get test kits at any pet store, such as Petco or Petsmart.
1. I have explained cycling thoroughly in one of your previous questions.
2. Bala sharks should be kept in groups of at least 6. I would not house them with small tropical community fish.
3. Test strips can be bought at most pet stores, so Petsmart and Petco will have them.
4. Algae eaters are fish that have suction cup-like mouths and are known for eating algae from the sides of the aquarium.
5. Snails, and algae eaters have no effect on how often you should clean your tank. The gravel should be vacuumed and 25% water changes should be done weekly.
6. Do not remove fish from the aquarium when cleaning. It places unnecessary stress on them.
~What is your rush? Simmer down. I think you should stick with just the balas. Too many fish would be difficult for you to look after. You still need to do a lot of research.
Well you should not get a tank anybiger than 55 gal because that is really big! If u get a 55 gal u need gravel, plants, fish, alge eater.conditioner, fresh water or ur fish will die, and food, heater, and a filter, and air pump. It can get pricy. The best bet to go is Pet Smart. They have everything and lots of tanks to chose from. you should get goldfish because they are really cool to watch but if you get a 55 gal tank you c an only get like 15 goldfish. There is tropical fish and you could get 55 fish. Tropical fish are very cool also. I have both. If you have goldfish you dont need a heater but u really need a good working filter and a air pump. More oxygen more healthy lasting fish. Tropical fish need a heater. you should get this water vacuum then cleans the water. You should set up your tank a week before you get the fish because all the bacteria will go away and your tank will be very good and healthy. Hope this worked!
