Hi Stephen, The first attached link tells you about the Nitrogen cycle which is fundamental in establishing a healthy environment & the second tells you about the role & benefits of plants in the aquarium, scroll down to ‘plants’ in sub menu on left-there are 4 articles.
Below is my favorite link on the nitrogen cycle in aquariums. Not only does it explain about the whole thing clearly and in simple language that is easy to understand, but there are links to related questions about the cycle and the cycling process.
